Saudi Business Visa from Bahrain: 2026 Requirements, Process & Timeline

Saudi Business Visa From Bahrain

If you have problems How to Apply Saudi Business visa from Bahrain? here is solutions A Bahrain resident applies for a Saudi business visa online on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) KSA Visa platform. The application is usually supported by an invitation letter from a Saudi company that shows the commercial relationship. MOFA states processing takes one to two working days after submission. Government charges total USD 101 plus medical insurance.

Who is this guide for?

This guide is for people who live in Bahrain on a residence permit (CPR) and need to go to Saudi Arabia for meetings, negotiations, inspections, audits or conferences. It applies to any nationality: Indian, Filipino, Pakistani, British, Egyptian, Nepali and others. MOFA’s business visit visa page lists residents among the service’s target audience. It also states that the visa “is granted to individuals of all nationalities” (our translation of the platform’s Arabic text, 23 September 2026).

Bahraini citizens travel to Saudi Arabia under GCC freedom-of-movement arrangements and do not apply for a business visit visa.

Short: GCC citizens can use a valid national ID or passport to travel to Saudi Arabia.

Jawazat: General Directorate of Passports — 992 for confirmation.

Seafarers joining a vessel at a Saudi port are usually on a different route. See KSA seaman and maritime crew visas.

Do Bahrain residents need a visa to visit Saudi Arabia on business?

Yes. A Bahrain CPR is not a Saudi entry permission. Your Bahrain residence can make you eligible for Saudi Arabia’s instant tourism eVisa. That visa does not list business among its permitted activities, so a business trip normally needs a business visit visa. The exception is UK citizens, who may be able to use an ETA.

You are… Business trip to Saudi Arabia
A Bahraini citizen No visa required — Bahrain citizens may enter Saudi Arabia for business travel using a valid Bahrain national ID or passport
A Bahrain resident of any nationality, going for meetings, conferences or inspections Business visit visa on the KSA Visa platform
A Bahrain resident holding UK citizenship Business visit visa, or the ETA, which MOFA lists as covering business
A Bahrain resident going to carry out work on a Saudi site or for a Saudi entity A work visa, not a visit visa. See the warning below
A Bahrain-based seafarer joining a vessel in Saudi Arabia Assessed per movement. See KSA seaman visa

Which Saudi visa fits your trip: business visit, tourism eVisa, ETA or work visa?

The purpose of your trip decides the visa. MOFA publishes a separate activity list for each category. A mismatch between what you will do and the category you hold is the most common reason a well-prepared file runs into trouble.

The practical point for Bahrain residents. The tourism eVisa is quick to get because of your GCC residency. It is not a business visa. If the purpose of the trip is a client meeting, an audit or a site inspection, apply for the category built for it. For category-level detail, see our full guide to KSA business visa requirements.

How does the application work from Bahrain?

MOFA publishes four steps: prepare documents, apply on the KSA Visa platform, track the application, receive the result. For a Bahrain resident, the step that decides the outcome is usually the first one: getting a proper invitation letter from your Saudi counterparty.

  1. Prepare your documents. Per MOFA’s steps tab (23 September 2026), this means getting an invitation letter from the inviting company “if available”, having a passport valid for at least six months, and having a recent personal photograph (our translation).
  2. Get the invitation letter right. MOFA’s requirements tab says you must submit an invitation letter that shows your relationship with the inviting company and states the commercial purpose of the invitation. The letter has no fixed expiry date, but MOFA’s FAQ says it should be “relatively recent” (our translation).
  3. If you have no invitation letter. MOFA’s requirements tab says that if you apply for a business visit visa without an invitation letter, you should give information about your business in the visa application (our translation). This route exists, but it puts the whole weight of the case on what you write about your business. We explain below why the invitation route is usually the stronger file.
  4. Apply and pay on the KSA Visa platform. MOFA lists the service channels as the digital portal and the KSA Visa platform. MOFA warns that errors in the information or documents you enter will slow processing (our translation).
  5. Track the application. Use the platform’s tracking tool with your invitation number or application number.
  6. Receive the result. The result arrives by email. In some cases you may be asked for more details or documents, by email or through an embassy visit. MOFA’s FAQ adds that in some cases the embassy may ask the invitee to send their passport and the invitation letter (our translation).

What is the sponsor-raised route?

A Saudi company can also request your visit through MOFA’s Business Visit Application. It is listed under Government and Business Sector Services and described as a service “to be used by a company or institution in the Kingdom to request a visit to one or more persons with managerial positions and have commercial ties with the requesting party” (read 23 September 2026). This route suits senior visitors whose Saudi counterparty will raise the request on its side. Under MOFA’s published instructions to requesting entities (last read by us on 11 September 2026), the request is ratified electronically by the Chamber of Commerce.

What documents does a Bahrain resident need for a Saudi business visa?

MOFA’s published requirements are short. The file that gets through without queries is the one where every document tells the same story about who you are, who you work for and why you are going.

MOFA’s published requirements (23 September 2026, our translation)

Requirement Detail
Invitation letter Must show your relationship with the inviting company and state the commercial purpose. No fixed validity, but it should be relatively recent.
No invitation letter? Give information about your business in the visa application
Age Visitors must be at least 18
Passport Valid for at least 6 months
Photograph A recent personal photograph
Medical insurance Insurance premium charged at application, according to the insurer
Compliance Follow the laws and regulations of Saudi Arabia during the visit

What we add for Bahrain-resident files

These are not MOFA requirements. They are the documents we check so the application holds together.

Document Why we check it
Bahrain CPR and residence permit Confirms you are lawfully resident and that your residence will still be valid on your return to Bahrain
Letter from your Bahrain employer Job title, employer and purpose must match the invitation letter and your application
Evidence of the commercial relationship (contract, purchase order, correspondence) Backs up the relationship the invitation letter describes
Name check across passport, CPR and invitation A spelling difference between documents is the fastest way to earn a query

Note: Bahrain office to confirm from recent files whether an employer NOC is ever requested and what minimum residence-permit validity is advised before travel

How long does a Saudi business visa take from Bahrain?

MOFA states that after the invitation letter (if any) and the visa application are submitted, processing usually takes one to two working days (business visit visa page, 23 September 2026, our translation). The time before that is under your control: getting a correctly worded invitation letter and entering error-free information. So is the time after it, if MOFA asks for more documents.

Stage Who controls it What drives the time
Category check You and us We usually confirm the right category the same working day we receive your four inputs (see below)
Invitation letter Your Saudi counterparty Their internal sign-off. This is the most common source of delay.
Application on the KSA Visa platform You or us Accuracy. MOFA warns that errors slow processing.
MOFA decision MOFA 1–2 working days after submission, per MOFA
Request for more documents, if any MOFA / embassy Depends on what is asked for

Comparable routes, per MOFA (23 September 2026): the tourism eVisa takes 1 minute to 3 business days, and the ETA takes 1–3 working days.

We do not quote an end-to-end figure without seeing your invitation letter. Nobody controls how fast your Saudi counterparty signs it except them.

How much does a Saudi business visa cost from Bahrain?

The government and platform charges for a Saudi business visit visa total USD 101 plus medical insurance, per the MOFA KSA Visa platform on 23 September 2026. That is the USD 80 visa fee, which is refundable, plus two non-refundable digital service fees of USD 10.50 each. Where you apply from does not change these charges.

Item Notes

Causeway toll and vehicle insurance for Saudi Arabia (if driving) Set by the King Fahd Causeway Authority and insurers
Embassy or courier costs Only if MOFA or the embassy asks for your passport to be sent

MOFA does not state the conditions under which the USD 80 visa fee is refunded.

What should you have ready when crossing the King Fahd Causeway?

The King Fahd Causeway is the road link between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. It is how most Bahrain-based business travellers reach Al Khobar, Dammam, Dhahran and Jubail. You clear Bahrain exit formalities and then Saudi entry formalities at the Causeway. Carry your passport, your approved Saudi visa and your Bahrain CPR.

Your Bahrain residence must still be valid when you return. A Saudi visa gets you into Saudi Arabia. Getting back into Bahrain depends on your Bahrain residence status, which Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA 17 07 70 77) administers.

Driving adds requirements. These typically include insurance valid in Saudi Arabia and, if you are not the registered owner, the owner’s authorization.

Note: KFCA/Saudi traffic requirements for Bahrain-registered vehicles. KFCA publishes customer service at 800 4000 999, but a complete readable requirements list was not found on its website.

Can you work in Saudi Arabia on a business visa from Bahrain?

No, not as an employee delivering work for a Saudi entity. MOFA’s business visit visa page states that the business visit must not be linked to a permanent employment contract inside the Kingdom. Its FAQ allows conferences and events “as long as they fall within the scope of business” (our translation, 23 September 2026). Meetings, negotiations, inspections and audits fit the category. Doing the job itself on a Saudi site usually needs a work visa.

This warning matters most for Bahrain-based technicians and contractors, because the Causeway makes a two-day job in Dammam feel like a local trip. Use this test:

If your trip is to… It reads as…
Meet a client, negotiate or attend a conference Business visit
Inspect, audit or witness a test, then report back to your Bahrain employer Business visit, usually, if the invitation describes it accurately
Supervise a contractor for a short, defined period Case by case, depending on scope and duration [VERIFY per case]
Install, repair, operate or maintain equipment as the hands-on worker Work scope, so a work visa route
Join a Saudi project roster or payroll Work visa, whatever the invitation says

MOFA lists Seasonal, Temporary and Permanent Work Visas as separate categories (visa options list, 23 September 2026). We will tell you if your scope reads as work. We will not word an invitation or application to describe work as a meeting. The risk of that falls on you and your employer.

Note: current penalties for working on a visit visa. Source: MOFA / Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

Why are Saudi business visa applications from Bahrain refused or delayed?

Most problems come from five causes. Four of them are preparation failures you can fix before you submit.

Details do not match. Your passport, CPR, employer letter, invitation letter and application must give the same name, job title and employer. MOFA warns that errors in the information entered slow processing.

The invitation does not show the relationship. MOFA requires the invitation letter to show your relationship with the inviting company and the commercial purpose. A generic “we invite Mr X to visit” letter does neither.

No invitation, and a thin business description. The no-invitation route depends entirely on the business information you give. A vague description leaves nothing for the decision to rest on.

The purpose reads as work. An employer letter saying “to carry out maintenance” next to an application saying “business meetings” is a contradiction.

Genuine ineligibility or adverse history. This is not a preparation failure. If we assess your case this way, we tell you before you pay.

MOFA’s steps tab says that a refused applicant can reapply at any time (our translation, 23 September 2026). Reapplying with an unchanged file rarely helps. Fix the ground of refusal first. See our visa consultancy for complex or refused cases.

What does Atomiq Consulting WLL (Maritime Visas) do, and what does MOFA do?

Maritime Visas is the maritime visa and crew mobility brand of Atomiq Consulting WLL, with an office in Damistan, Kingdom of Bahrain. We are not an issuing authority. Saudi visas are issued only by the Kingdom’s authorities.

We do MOFA and the Saudi authorities do
Check whether your purpose fits a business visit, the ETA or a work route Decide the category granted
Draft the wording your Saudi counterparty’s invitation letter needs to show the relationship and purpose Assess the invitation and application
Check your Bahrain-side documents and the application for mismatches before submission Accept or query documents
Submit on the KSA Visa platform and track the case Process and decide
Tell you in advance if we assess the case as weak Grant or refuse. The decision is theirs alone.

We prepare applications to the standard the authority expects. We do not guarantee outcomes. MOFA advises applicants to contact it directly for the latest information and to avoid unauthorised individuals or companies. Your application sits on the Kingdom’s own platform and you can see it at every stage. See Saudi and GCC visa processing services.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a Saudi business visa from Bahrain without an invitation letter?

MOFA’s requirements allow it. If you apply without an invitation letter, you give information about your business in the visa application. With an invitation letter that shows your relationship with the Saudi company and the commercial purpose, the file is usually much stronger.

Can I use the GCC-resident tourist eVisa for a business meeting in Saudi Arabia?

The tourism eVisa is open to residents of GCC countries. Its published activities are tourism, events, visiting family or friends, and Umrah. Business is not listed. For meetings, audits or inspections, apply for the business visit visa.

How much does a Saudi business visa cost for Bahrain residents?

Per the MOFA KSA Visa platform on 23 September 2026: a USD 80 visa fee (refundable), plus a USD 10.50 visa digital service fee and a USD 10.50 insurance digital service fee (both non-refundable), plus the medical insurance premium. That is USD 101 before insurance. Our service fee is separate and quoted per case.

How long does a Saudi business visa take from Bahrain?

MOFA states one to two working days after the invitation letter (if any) and the application are submitted. Getting the invitation letter and correcting any errors take extra time, so plan for those.

What passport validity do I need?

At least six months, per MOFA’s business visit visa requirements on 23 September 2026. Visitors must also be at least 18.

I am British and live in Bahrain. Can I use the Saudi ETA for business?

MOFA’s ETA page lists business among permitted activities for UK citizens. It shows multiple entry, 730 days’ validity, a 180-day stay, a SAR 50 non-refundable fee and 1–3 working days’ processing (23 September 2026). The ETA cannot be used for work or Hajj.

Can I do installation or maintenance work on a business visa?

Usually not. MOFA states a business visit must not be linked to a permanent employment contract in the Kingdom. Hands-on work for a Saudi entity or project is normally a work visa matter. We tell you which side your scope falls on before anything is filed.

What happens if my Saudi business visa is refused?

MOFA says you can reapply at any time. Resubmitting the same file rarely changes the result. We review why it was refused and fix that first.

Can Maritime Visas guarantee my Saudi visa?

No. The decision belongs to the Saudi authorities. We prepare your file to the standard they expect and tell you upfront if your case looks unlikely to succeed.
