KSA Business Visa: Requirements, Sponsor Rules and Timelines

A KSA business visa is a Saudi visit visa issued for the purpose of business, permitting commercial and business-related visits such as meetings, conferences and partnerships. It is granted against an invitation from a sponsoring company or institution in the Kingdom, and it may not be used for permanent employment inside Saudi Arabia.

We are not an issuing authority

We prepare, check, submit, coordinate and follow up. Saudi visas are issued only by the authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Government fees published, not hidden

The Kingdom’s own fee schedule is set out below with its source and date. Our service fee is quoted separately, per case, before we start.

We work alongside the government channel

The sponsor’s request and the application both sit on the Kingdom’s platform, visible to you. We never ask a client to go around a government channel.

No outcome promises

Approval is the Kingdom’s decision. Where we assess a case as unlikely to succeed, we tell you before you commit to a date.

Who this is for

Who needs a KSA business visa?

A business visit visa suits anyone travelling to Saudi Arabia for commercial purposes against a sponsor’s invitation. Four groups make up most of our cases, and the fourth is the one that most often ends up in the wrong category.

HR and mobility managers

Moving staff into the Kingdom for meetings, negotiations, client visits and internal audits, often as a delegation of several people across different nationalities and departure points.

Technical services contractors

Inspection, survey, audit, commissioning supervision and training delivery. These scopes sit inside the business visit category where the work is attendance and supervision rather than employment.

SME owners and directors

Opening a commercial relationship in the Kingdom, attending a conference or exhibition, or meeting a distributor or partner for the first time.

Marine and offshore professionals

Superintendents, surveyors and marine specialists flying in on commercial business. Where the trip is a vessel joining rather than a commercial visit, the route changes — see KSA seaman and maritime crew visas.
If you have no sponsor, you do not yet have a business visit case — and no service provider can create one for you. We will not manufacture an invitation, and you should decline any provider who offers to. What we can do is tell you whether your commercial counterparty in the Kingdom can raise the request, what they need in front of them to do it, and whether a different category fits your real purpose better.

Visa requirements

What are the KSA business visa requirements, validity and fees?

The business visa is not a separate visa class. It is one of the declared purposes of Saudi Arabia’s visit visa, alongside tourism, family and friends, medical and Umrah. That is why it carries a visit visa’s conditions: time-bounded, tied to a stated purpose, and creating no right to be employed in the Kingdom.

Activity Permitted on a KSA business visit visa
Meetings, conferences, partnership and commercial discussions Yes — this is the stated purpose of the category
Travel between Saudi cities during the visit Yes
Visiting family and friends while in the Kingdom Yes
Attending events and tourism activities Yes
Performing Umrah Yes
Performing Hajj No
Taking up a permanent employment contract in the Kingdom No

Class Validity Permitted stay
Single entry 90 days 90 days
Multiple entry 1 year 90 days
Read the two columns separately. Validity is the window in which the visa can be used to enter. Stay is how long you may remain once inside. A one-year multiple-entry visa does not permit 365 days in the Kingdom. It permits entries across a year, with the permitted stay bounded on each visit. Confirm with the Ministry how the permitted stay is counted for your case before planning a long trip.

Item Refundable
Visa fee Refundable
Visa digital service fee Non-refundable
Insurance digital service fee Non-refundable

Who sponsors the visa, and what does the sponsor actually do?

“Managerial positions”
“Commercial ties with the requesting party”
What the sponsor must get right. Per the KSA Visa platform’s published instructions to entities raising a business visit request, retrieved 11 September 2026:
  • Names of visitors of non-Arab nationalities must be entered in Latin characters, matching their passports exactly.
  • Multiple visitors may be listed on a single request form, even where their nationalities and points of departure differ.
  • The request must be ratified electronically by the Chamber of Commerce, and the outcome is followed on the Ministry’s website.
The first of those three causes more avoidable rejections than any other single item. A passport reading “MOHAMMED ABDUL RAHIM” and a request reading “Mohamed A. Rahim” is a mismatch, and a mismatch is a query, and a query costs more days than the entire decision stage.

Business visa or crew route — which does my case need?

Sea Transit Visa description: KSA Visa platform, Explore Visa Options. Retrieved 11 September 2026.
Your situation Usual route
Flying in for meetings, inspection, audit or commercial discussions KSA business visit visa
Flying in to join a vessel or an offshore unit Assessed case by case. Often a business visit or a work category, depending on the scope and who employs you. We confirm which applies to your case in writing before anything is submitted
Arriving on a vessel and disembarking temporarily at a Saudi port Sea Transit Visa — the platform describes this as a visa “for travelers traveling by sea” that “permits temporary disembarkation at Saudi ports”
Taking up employment on a Saudi entity’s headcount A work visa category, not a visit visa

Documents

What documents are required for a KSA business visa?

The document set is built to answer three questions: who you are, what commercial relationship brings you, and who in the Kingdom stands behind the visit. Files that answer all three consistently are processed quickly.

Document What it evidences Where files commonly fail
Passport, valid well beyond the intended entry date, with blank visa pages Identity and nationality Insufficient remaining validity, no blank facing pages, damage, machine-readable zone unreadable
Recent passport photograph to the mission’s specification Identity Wrong background, wrong dimensions, older than the mission accepts, spectacles or headwear where not permitted
Invitation from the Saudi sponsor, raised on the KSA Visa platform The purpose and the responsible Saudi party Job title not matching the passport-holder’s stated role; name transliterated differently from the passport
Chamber of Commerce electronic ratification of the sponsor’s request That the request is properly authorised Not completed before the application is followed up
Employer letter from the applicant’s own company The applicant’s standing and the commercial purpose Undated, unsigned, or describing a purpose that does not match the invitation
Commercial Registration (CR) or equivalent of the sponsoring entity The sponsor’s legal standing in the Kingdom Expired, or an entity whose activity does not match the stated purpose
Confirmed travel itinerary That the visit is bounded Dates outside the visa’s validity window
Proof of accommodation or the sponsor’s hosting undertaking Where the visitor will be Missing entirely on self-arranged trips
Medical insurance meeting the platform’s requirement Insurance cover as required for the visa Purchased from a provider the platform does not accept
Attestation and legalisation of company documents where required That foreign documents are recognised The single largest avoidable delay in the whole sequence
Biometrics, where the mission handling the case requires them Identity Appointment not booked early enough for the travel window

Application process

How long does a KSA business visa take, and what happens at each stage?

Per the KSA Visa platform as at 11 September 2026, once the invitation letter (where one applies) and the visa application have been submitted, processing “usually takes one (1) to two (2) working days.” That is the platform’s figure for the decision step. It measures only the last stage of a longer sequence.

  1. Category assessment against your actual scope

Before any document is collected we establish whether your scope is a business visit, an employment scope needing a work visa, or a maritime movement needing a different route. Category errors are not curable by adding documents.
  2. Saudi sponsor raises the business visit request

Controlled entirely by your sponsor in the Kingdom, and dependent on their internal approvals. This is the most common source of delay. We brief them on exactly what the platform requires and check the request before it goes up.
  3. Chamber of Commerce electronic ratification

Per the platform’s commercial visit instructions, the request must be ratified electronically by the Chamber of Commerce before the result is followed on the Ministry’s site. A file waiting on this step is not in a queue — it is not yet in the process.
  4. Applicant document assembly, attestation and legalisation

We reconcile every name, title and date across the file. Attestation has its own lead time in the country of issue and cannot be compressed.
  5. Biometrics at a visa application centre, where required

Appointment-led, so it is capacity-bound rather than process-bound. Book it as early as the travel window is known, and confirm with the mission handling your case whether it applies to you.
  6. Submission, decision and follow-up

Submitted through the correct channel and tracked to decision. The Ministry’s published window is one to two working days after submission. We report the moment a position changes.
The honest summary. The decision is quick and the preparation is not. Any provider quoting you a single end-to-end number without asking who your sponsor is and where your documents were issued is quoting a number they cannot control.

How this works from the GCC, Asia, Europe and the United States

Where you apply from What usually differs
Bahrain, UAE and the wider GCC Applicants who already hold GCC residency are frequently the fastest cases, because identity and status are already documented in the region. Crew and contractors based in Bahrain regularly enter the Eastern Province by road via the King Fahd Causeway once the visa is in hand. We handle these from our own Bahrain office.
India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka The document set is the same; the attestation chain is longer, and educational or professional certificates commonly need legalisation before they are accepted. Plan the attestation before the travel date, not after.
United Kingdom and Europe Applications are typically routed through the Saudi mission and its appointed visa application centre, with biometric capture at appointment. United Kingdom citizens should also check whether the Electronic Travel Authorization route fits a short exploratory trip better than a sponsored business visit. Confirm current ETA eligibility and validity on the KSA Visa platform before relying on it.
United States and Canada Handled through the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia and its appointed centres. Corporate document attestation through the local chamber of commerce is the step most often underestimated.

Why Maritime Visas

What we do, and what the authority does

Maritime Visas is the maritime visa and crew mobility brand of Atomiq Consulting W.L.L, with an office in the Kingdom of Bahrain and an office in Dubai. We are not an issuing authority. We do not issue Saudi visas, and no Saudi visa is issued by anyone other than the Kingdom’s own authorities.

We do The authority does
Establish which category actually fits your scope before anything is submitted Decide the category it will grant
Brief your Saudi sponsor on what the platform requires, and check the request before it goes up Receive and assess the sponsor’s request
Assemble, check and correct the applicant file, including attestation and legalisation Accept or query the documents
Submit through the correct channel and coordinate with the sponsor, employer or ship agent Process the application
Track the case to decision and report the moment a position changes Grant, refuse or query
Tell you in advance where we assess a case as weak Make the final decision, which is theirs alone

Common problems

Why are KSA business visa applications refused or delayed?

Most refusals trace to one of six causes. Five of them are preparation failures and are fixable before submission.

1. The invitation and the application describe different people

Different transliteration of the same name, a different job title, a different employer. The platform’s own instruction is that non-Arab names must be entered in Latin characters matching the passport. When they are not, the file is queried.

2. The category does not match the scope

An employment scope submitted as a business visit, or a business visit drafted in language that reads like employment. Invitations for technical and engineering visitors need to describe a working visit accurately rather than borrowing generic commercial wording. Confirm the wording your sponsor should use with the Saudi mission handling the case.

3. The sponsor’s own position does not support the request

An expired Commercial Registration, an activity code inconsistent with the stated purpose, or an entity with no demonstrable commercial tie to the visitor.

4. Chamber of Commerce ratification not completed

The platform states plainly that the request is ratified electronically by the Chamber of Commerce. A file waiting on that step is not in a queue; it is not yet in the process.

5. Attestation missing or to the wrong standard

Foreign company documents often need to be legalised before a Saudi authority will accept them. This step has its own independent lead time.

6. Genuine ineligibility or an adverse history

Some previous immigration outcomes close routes, and some scopes simply are not visit-visa scopes. Not a preparation failure. Where we assess a case this way, we say so before you pay a fee.

FAQ

KSA business visa — frequently asked questions

Is a KSA business visa the same as a Saudi business visit visa?
Yes. The Kingdom issues it as a visit visa for the purpose of business. “Business visa”, “business visit visa” and “commercial visit visa” are all used in practice for the same category. The platform’s own wording is a visit visa for the purpose of business, allowing commercial and business-related visits for meetings, conferences or partnerships.
Do I need a sponsor in Saudi Arabia for a business visa?
In the ordinary case, yes. The Kingdom’s Business Visit Application service is described as a service for a company or institution in the Kingdom to request a visit by people holding managerial positions who have commercial ties with the requesting party. The sponsor raises the request, and the Chamber of Commerce ratifies it electronically. Without a sponsor there is no business visit request to make.
How long can I stay in Saudi Arabia on a business visa?
Per the KSA Visa platform as at 11 September 2026, both the single-entry and the multiple-entry business visit visa permit a stay of 90 days. The difference is validity: 90 days for single entry, one year for multiple entry. Validity is the window to enter; stay is the time permitted once inside.
How much does a KSA business visa cost?
Per the KSA Visa platform as at 11 September 2026, the visa fee is USD 80 and is refundable, with a USD 10.50 non-refundable visa digital service fee and a USD 10.50 non-refundable insurance digital service fee, plus the medical insurance premium set by the insurer. Our service fee is separate and quoted per case. Government fees change and are confirmed at the time of application.
How fast is a KSA business visa issued?
The platform states that after the invitation letter, where applicable, and the visa application have been submitted, processing usually takes one to two working days. The preparation ahead of that step — sponsor request, Chamber ratification, attestation, biometrics where required — is what sets your real timeline.
Can I perform Umrah on a KSA business visa?
Yes. The platform lists performing Umrah among the activities permitted on the business visit visa. Hajj is not permitted on this visa.
Can I work in Saudi Arabia on a business visa?
Not as an employee of a Saudi entity. The platform states that a business visit must not be linked to a permanent employment contract inside the Kingdom. Meetings, inspections, audits, negotiations and technical consultation are within the category; taking up Saudi employment is not, and that is a work visa question.
My job is offshore or marine. Should I apply for a business visa or a crew route?
It depends on the movement and the scope, not the job title. Flying in for meetings or inspection is usually a business visit. Joining a vessel or an offshore unit is assessed case by case. Arriving on a ship and disembarking at a Saudi port is a different route again, handled through the vessel’s agent. Our KSA seaman and maritime crew visas page sets out each case.
What happens if my business visa is refused?
We review the ground of refusal before recommending anything. A documentary ground can usually be corrected and resubmitted. A substantive eligibility ground usually cannot, and the honest answer is then a different category or a different applicant, not a resubmission.
Can Maritime Visas guarantee my Saudi business visa will be approved?
No, and no provider honestly can. The decision belongs to the Kingdom’s authorities. We prepare applications to the standard those authorities expect, and we tell you in advance where we assess a case as weak.

Requirements change. Every position on this page should be confirmed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its platform at the time of application.
