You can get a Bahrain business visa in one of two ways. A Bahrain company with a commercial registration (CR) can act as your guarantor and submit NPRA’s Business visa for you. Or, if your nationality qualifies, you can apply yourself on the NPRA eVisa portal (evisa.gov.bh). Either way, you must apply from outside Bahrain.
Every fee, processing time and requirement on this page was read on the websites of Nationality, Passports & Residence Affairs (NPRA), Ministry of Interior, Kingdom of Bahrain, on 28 September 2026. Requirements change, so confirm the current position for your case before you book travel.
Who is a Bahrain business visa for?
NPRA describes its Business visa as a visa “for foreign businessmen or company representatives who wish to hold meetings and conduct business transactions” in Bahrain (NPRA Business visa page, 28 September 2026). It suits people coming for client meetings, negotiations, contract signings, audits and supplier visits.
This page is written for:
- Company representatives visiting a Bahrain client, partner or group company
- Bahrain companies hosting a foreign visitor and deciding whether to act as guarantor
- Crewing and HR managers arranging short business trips for staff who are not joining a vessel
- GCC residents travelling to Bahrain for meetings on a residence permit from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait or Oman
It is not for working in Bahrain. NPRA’s Bahrain Business visa page states: “Visitors are not allowed to engage in any form of work, whether paid or unpaid, during their visit.” Anyone who will do the job itself, such as installing, repairing, operating or delivering a service on site, needs a work route through the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA). Seafarers joining or leaving a vessel in Bahrain are not business visitors either. We assess that movement separately for each case.
Which route fits: guarantor Business visa or self-applied eVisa?
The route depends on your nationality, where you live and who in Bahrain stands behind your visit. NPRA’s eVisa FAQ says that if you “do not qualify for a Visa without a guarantor”, a Bahrain company, organization or citizen can act as your guarantor.
| NPRA Business visa (guarantor route) | Self-applied eVisa | |
|---|---|---|
| Who applies | “A guarantor or authorized person” | The visitor, on evisa.gov.bh |
| Who needs it | Visitors who do not qualify for a visa without a guarantor, or whose host prefers to sponsor the visit | Nationalities and residents that NPRA’s eligibility checker allows to apply directly |
| Where you must be | Outside Bahrain | Outside Bahrain |
| How it is filed | eGovernment website, or in person at the Muharraq Security Complex – Isa Town branch | NPRA eVisa portal |
| Key document | Formal letter from the guarantor, plus a work certificate | Varies by class. See the table below. |
| Processing (NPRA) | Issuance: 3 working days | Issuance: 1 working day on the service pages. The eVisa FAQ says “approximately 3-5 working days”. |
| Application fee | BHD 5 | BHD 5, non-refundable |
Sources: NPRA Business visa page, NPRA eVisa service pages, and the evisa.gov.bh FAQ, all read 28 September 2026.
Which classes suit a business meeting? NPRA’s eligibility form on evisa.gov.bh lists “Business Meeting” as a purpose of visit under “General Visit”. The classes it then offers depend on your nationality and on whether you hold a GCC residence permit. Read the “See conditions” link for each class before you apply.
What are the eVisa classes a business visitor might apply under?
NPRA publishes these self-applied eVisa classes on its service pages. Each one states its own documents and fees (read 28 September 2026).
| eVisa class (NPRA name) | Who it is for | Documents NPRA lists | Visa fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two Weeks Single Entry Electronic Visa | Eligible nationalities | Passport valid more than 6 months · hotel reservation or residential address in Bahrain · return ticket · bank statement for the past 3 months showing a regular income of at least USD 1,000 | BHD 5 |
| 3 Months Multiple Entry Electronic Visa (212 nationals) | The 212 nationalities NPRA lists | Same as above | BHD 12 |
| 3 months Multiple Entry Electronic Visa (UK and Ireland) | UK and Irish citizens | Passport valid more than 6 months | BHD 20 |
| Two-Week Single Entry Electronic Visa (GCC Residents) | Residents of a GCC country | Passport valid more than 6 months · GCC residence permit with a return visa valid for at least 3 months | BHD 5 |
| 3 Months Multiple-Entry Electronic Visa (GCC Resident) | Residents of a GCC country | Passport valid more than 6 months | BHD 12 |
| One-year Multiple Entry Electronic Visa (GCC Residents) | Residents of a GCC country | Passport valid more than 6 months · GCC residence permit with a return visa valid for at least 3 months | BHD 40 |
Every class also carries a BHD 5 non-refundable application fee. Each one states that the visa “will be invalid if not used within three months of issuance”.
GCC citizens do not appear in this table. They enter Bahrain under GCC arrangements and do not apply for a business visa.
What is a guarantor, and who can be one?
A guarantor is the Bahrain party that applies for your visa and stands behind your visit. NPRA’s eVisa FAQ says a visa “can be obtained through a local company or an organization or a citizen in the Kingdom of Bahrain that can act as a guarantor”. For a business visit, the guarantor is normally the Bahrain company you are coming to see.
How does a Bahrain company become a registered guarantor?
To file online, a company registers on evisa.gov.bh as a Registered User. NPRA defines this as “an organization which has a Commercial Registration certificate in the Kingdom of Bahrain and qualifies as a guarantor to apply for Bahrain visit Visas” (Registered Users page, 28 September 2026).
The company applies on the portal, then emails these documents to evisa-bh@npra.gov.bh:
- The completed Registered User application, printed from the website
- An authorization letter requesting access, addressed to Nationality, Passports & Residence Affairs
- A copy of the valid CR
- A copy of the user’s ID reader printout
All of these must carry the organization’s official stamp. Once NPRA approves the registration, it issues a user ID and password. NPRA lists up to five users per organization and reduced documentation for later applications. It also says that “the types of Visas depends on the nature of the guarantor’s business and reason for visit”.
Can an agent act as the guarantor’s registered user?
No. NPRA states that “the registered user must be an employee at the same organization and not a clearing agent”. The host company’s own staff log in and submit. We prepare the file for them to submit. We do not use a client’s guarantor login, and we do not act as a guarantor for visitors who have no genuine business with us.
How do you check that a guarantor company is real?
Search the company’s commercial registration number or trading name on Sijilat, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce’s commercial registration portal (sijilat.bh). NPRA’s registration process needs a valid CR, so a host that cannot show one cannot register as a guarantor.
What documents do you need for a Bahrain business visa?
For the guarantor route, NPRA’s Business visa page (28 September 2026) lists five documents for issuance:
| Document | NPRA wording | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Application form | “Applying at service center only” | Only needed for in-person filing |
| Guarantor’s letter | “Formal letter from the guarantor” | It names the visitor exactly as the passport does, gives the purpose and dates, and is signed by the host company |
| ID copy | “Copy of the applicant or legal representative’s ID” | The ID matches the person submitting |
| Passport | “Valid for more than 6 months” | The validity is counted from your travel date, and the passport has a free page |
| Work certificate | “Work certificate” | It shows your employer and job title, consistent with the guarantor’s letter |
NPRA adds that “the administration has the right to request any additional necessary documents and information at any time”. Every applicant needs their own passport. The eVisa FAQ says dependents endorsed in a parent’s passport cannot apply on it, and each application is filed separately.
How do you apply for a Bahrain business visa, step by step?
The steps below combine NPRA’s Bahrain Business visa procedure with its published eVisa process (both read 28 September 2026). The main difference between the two routes is who presses submit.
- Confirm the route. Run the eligibility check on evisa.gov.bh with your nationality, any GCC residence and “Business Meeting” as the purpose. If no self-applied class is offered, you need a guarantor.
- Stay outside Bahrain. Both the Business visa and the eVisa classes require you to be outside the Kingdom when the application is submitted.
- Prepare the documents. Use the checklist above for the guarantor route, or the documents for your eVisa class from the table.
- Submit. On the guarantor route, the host company’s registered user submits online, or the guarantor or an authorized person files in person at the Muharraq Security Complex – Isa Town branch. On the eVisa route, you apply on evisa.gov.bh and attach the documents.
- Pay the first fee. The BHD 5 application fee is paid by card at submission. Keep the Application Reference Number. You need it to track the application.
- NPRA assesses the application. NPRA states 3 working days for Business visa issuance. The decision comes by email.
- Pay the second fee. After approval, use “Pay for Application” on evisa.gov.bh to pay the visa fee. On the Business visa, NPRA states that payment must be made “within 30 days of application approval or the application will be automatically cancelled”.
- Print the visa and travel. NPRA’s FAQ says no visa is stamped in your passport before arrival. You must travel on the same passport you applied with.
- Enter within three months. NPRA states the visa “will be invalid if not used within three months of issuance”.
Holding a visa does not by itself mean you will be admitted. NPRA’s FAQ says entry is “at the discretion of an Immigration Officer”.
How long does a Bahrain business visa take?
NPRA states 3 working days for Business visa issuance and 1 working day for an extension (Business visa page, 28 September 2026). The self-applied eVisa service pages each state 1 working day. NPRA’s eVisa FAQ gives “approximately 3-5 working days” and says “there will be exceptional cases that might take longer”. So plan on the longer figure.
| Stage | Who controls it | What drives the time |
|---|---|---|
| Route check | You and us | We usually confirm the route the same working day we receive your passport copy and trip details |
| Guarantor’s letter and work certificate | Your Bahrain host and your employer | Internal sign-off. This is the most common wait, and it happens before NPRA sees anything. |
| Guarantor registration (first time only) | The host company, then NPRA | NPRA does not publish a timeline for approving a registration [VERIFY] |
| NPRA decision | NPRA | 3 working days for the Business visa, per NPRA |
| Second payment | You or the guarantor | Must be paid within 30 days of approval |
We do not quote an end-to-end timeline until we know whether your host is already a registered user.

How much does a Bahrain business visa cost?
Per NPRA’s Business visa page (28 September 2026), the application fee is BHD 5, the multiple visa fee is BHD 12 and the extension fee is BHD 40. NPRA’s FAQ says the processing fee is not refunded if the application is not approved.
Business visa (guarantor route): NPRA fees
| Item | Amount (NPRA, 28 September 2026) |
|---|---|
| Applying fee | BHD 5 |
| Multiple visa fee | BHD 12 |
| Extension fee | BHD 40 |
For the self-applied eVisa fees, see the class table above. Every class charges a BHD 5 application fee plus the visa fee for that class.
Costs that are not government fees
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Our service fee | Quoted per case, separately from the government fees, before any work starts. A single visitor whose host is already registered is different work from a group visit where the host has never registered. |
| Card charges | Set by your card issuer. NPRA processes card payments through the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) payment gateway. |
These are government charges, not a quotation. Fees change and are confirmed at the time of application.
Can you extend a Bahrain business visa?
Yes. NPRA lists extension as part of the Business visa service, with a BHD 40 extension fee and 1 working day processing. The documents are an application form (service centre only) and a passport valid for more than 6 months. NPRA’s FAQ says extensions are handled in person at the NPRA main office on Exhibitions Avenue, Manama, or at the MOI service centre in Muharraq. Apply before your current permission to stay runs out.
Why are Bahrain business visa applications refused or delayed?
NPRA does not publish refusal reasons. The causes below are the ones NPRA’s own published requirements make predictable. Most can be fixed before you submit.
The application was filed from inside Bahrain. Both routes require you to be outside the Kingdom when you apply.
The passport has too little validity. NPRA requires more than six months.
The guarantor’s letter and the work certificate disagree. If your name, employer or job title differs between the two, the application will be queried.
The purpose reads as work. NPRA says visitors may not work, paid or unpaid. A letter describing hands-on work is a work-permit matter, not a business visit.
The application has a mistake. NPRA’s FAQ says submitted applications “cannot be edited”. The fix is to cancel and reapply, which costs another application fee.
The second payment was missed. An approved Business visa is cancelled automatically if the fee is not paid within 30 days.
If your application is refused, NPRA’s FAQ says the email will tell you whether to contact NPRA or the embassy, and that you can submit a new application. Reapplying with the same file rarely changes the outcome. Fix the cause first. See our visa processing services for Bahrain, KSA and the UAE for how we handle refused cases.

Frequently asked questions
[VERIFY: check these questions against real Bahrain-office WhatsApp and email enquiries before publishing.]
Do I need a sponsor for a Bahrain business visa?
It depends on your nationality and residence. NPRA’s Business visa must be submitted by a guarantor, normally the Bahrain company you are visiting. If NPRA’s eligibility checker offers you a self-applied eVisa class for a business meeting, you can apply without a guarantor.
Can a visa agent be my guarantor in Bahrain?
Not as the guarantor’s registered user. NPRA states that “the registered user must be an employee at the same organization and not a clearing agent”. The Bahrain company you are visiting acts as guarantor. We prepare the file for its staff to submit.
How much is the Bahrain business visa fee?
Per NPRA’s Business visa page on 28 September 2026, the application fee is BHD 5, the multiple visa fee is BHD 12 and the extension fee is BHD 40. NPRA says the processing fee is not refunded if the application is refused. Our service fee is quoted separately.
How long does a Bahrain business visa take?
NPRA states 3 working days for Business visa issuance. Its eVisa FAQ gives about 3 to 5 working days and warns that exceptional cases can take longer. Allow extra time for your host’s letter and, if it is a first-time guarantor, its registration.
Can I apply for a Bahrain business visa while I am in Bahrain?
No. NPRA’s Business visa page and its eVisa class pages all require the applicant to be outside the Kingdom of Bahrain when the application is submitted.
Can I work in Bahrain on a business visa?
No. NPRA’s Business visa page states that visitors are not allowed to engage in any form of work, whether paid or unpaid. Meetings and business transactions are permitted. Doing the job itself needs a work route through the LMRA.
I live in Saudi Arabia. Can I get a Bahrain visa online?
NPRA publishes eVisa classes for GCC residents: two weeks single entry, 3 months multiple entry and one year multiple entry. The two-week and one-year classes require a GCC residence permit with a return visa valid for at least three months. Check the conditions on evisa.gov.bh for business use.
How long is a Bahrain business visa valid?
NPRA states the Business visa “will be invalid if not used within three months of issuance”. The permitted stay per entry is not stated on NPRA’s Business visa page, so we confirm it for your case before you book.
Can Maritime Visas guarantee my Bahrain visa?
No. The decision belongs to NPRA, and entry is at the discretion of the immigration officer on arrival. We prepare your file to the standard NPRA expects and tell you upfront if your case looks unlikely to succeed.
