Saudi Arabia · Business travel
A KSA business visa is a Saudi visit visa issued for the purpose of business, permitting commercial and business-related visits such as meetings, conferences and partnerships. It is granted against an invitation from a sponsoring company or institution in the Kingdom, and it may not be used for permanent employment inside Saudi Arabia.
Last updated 11 September 2026. Every figure on this page is attributed to the KSA Visa platform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as retrieved on that date. Requirements change and are confirmed at the time of application.
Who this is for
A business visit visa suits anyone travelling to Saudi Arabia for commercial purposes against a sponsor’s invitation. Four groups make up most of our cases, and the fourth is the one that most often ends up in the wrong category.
Visa requirements
The business visa is not a separate visa class. It is one of the declared purposes of Saudi Arabia’s visit visa, alongside tourism, family and friends, medical and Umrah. That is why it carries a visit visa’s conditions: time-bounded, tied to a stated purpose, and creating no right to be employed in the Kingdom.
| Activity | Permitted on a KSA business visit visa |
|---|---|
| Meetings, conferences, partnership and commercial discussions | Yes — this is the stated purpose of the category |
| Travel between Saudi cities during the visit | Yes |
| Visiting family and friends while in the Kingdom | Yes |
| Attending events and tourism activities | Yes |
| Performing Umrah | Yes |
| Performing Hajj | No |
| Taking up a permanent employment contract in the Kingdom | No |
| Class | Validity | Permitted stay |
|---|---|---|
| Single entry | 90 days | 90 days |
| Multiple entry | 1 year | 90 days |
| Item | Refundable |
|---|---|
| Visa fee | Refundable |
| Visa digital service fee | Non-refundable |
| Insurance digital service fee | Non-refundable |
| Medical insurance premium | Per the insurer’s terms |
| Your situation | Usual route |
|---|---|
| Flying in for meetings, inspection, audit or commercial discussions | KSA business visit visa |
| Flying in to join a vessel or an offshore unit | Assessed case by case. Often a business visit or a work category, depending on the scope and who employs you. We confirm which applies to your case in writing before anything is submitted |
| Arriving on a vessel and disembarking temporarily at a Saudi port | Sea Transit Visa — the platform describes this as a visa “for travelers traveling by sea” that “permits temporary disembarkation at Saudi ports” |
| Taking up employment on a Saudi entity’s headcount | A work visa category, not a visit visa |
Documents
The document set is built to answer three questions: who you are, what commercial relationship brings you, and who in the Kingdom stands behind the visit. Files that answer all three consistently are processed quickly.
| Document | What it evidences | Where files commonly fail |
|---|---|---|
| Passport, valid well beyond the intended entry date, with blank visa pages | Identity and nationality | Insufficient remaining validity, no blank facing pages, damage, machine-readable zone unreadable |
| Recent passport photograph to the mission’s specification | Identity | Wrong background, wrong dimensions, older than the mission accepts, spectacles or headwear where not permitted |
| Invitation from the Saudi sponsor, raised on the KSA Visa platform | The purpose and the responsible Saudi party | Job title not matching the passport-holder’s stated role; name transliterated differently from the passport |
| Chamber of Commerce electronic ratification of the sponsor’s request | That the request is properly authorised | Not completed before the application is followed up |
| Employer letter from the applicant’s own company | The applicant’s standing and the commercial purpose | Undated, unsigned, or describing a purpose that does not match the invitation |
| Commercial Registration (CR) or equivalent of the sponsoring entity | The sponsor’s legal standing in the Kingdom | Expired, or an entity whose activity does not match the stated purpose |
| Confirmed travel itinerary | That the visit is bounded | Dates outside the visa’s validity window |
| Proof of accommodation or the sponsor’s hosting undertaking | Where the visitor will be | Missing entirely on self-arranged trips |
| Medical insurance meeting the platform’s requirement | Insurance cover as required for the visa | Purchased from a provider the platform does not accept |
| Attestation and legalisation of company documents where required | That foreign documents are recognised | The single largest avoidable delay in the whole sequence |
| Biometrics, where the mission handling the case requires them | Identity | Appointment not booked early enough for the travel window |
Application process
Per the KSA Visa platform as at 11 September 2026, once the invitation letter (where one applies) and the visa application have been submitted, processing “usually takes one (1) to two (2) working days.” That is the platform’s figure for the decision step. It measures only the last stage of a longer sequence.
| Where you apply from | What usually differs |
|---|---|
| Bahrain, UAE and the wider GCC | Applicants who already hold GCC residency are frequently the fastest cases, because identity and status are already documented in the region. Crew and contractors based in Bahrain regularly enter the Eastern Province by road via the King Fahd Causeway once the visa is in hand. We handle these from our own Bahrain office. |
| India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka | The document set is the same; the attestation chain is longer, and educational or professional certificates commonly need legalisation before they are accepted. Plan the attestation before the travel date, not after. |
| United Kingdom and Europe | Applications are typically routed through the Saudi mission and its appointed visa application centre, with biometric capture at appointment. United Kingdom citizens should also check whether the Electronic Travel Authorization route fits a short exploratory trip better than a sponsored business visit. Confirm current ETA eligibility and validity on the KSA Visa platform before relying on it. |
| United States and Canada | Handled through the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia and its appointed centres. Corporate document attestation through the local chamber of commerce is the step most often underestimated. |

|---|---|
| Establish which category actually fits your scope before anything is submitted | Decide the category it will grant |
| Brief your Saudi sponsor on what the platform requires, and check the request before it goes up | Receive and assess the sponsor’s request |
| Assemble, check and correct the applicant file, including attestation and legalisation | Accept or query the documents |
| Submit through the correct channel and coordinate with the sponsor, employer or ship agent | Process the application |
| Track the case to decision and report the moment a position changes | Grant, refuse or query |
| Tell you in advance where we assess a case as weak | Make the final decision, which is theirs alone |
Common problems
Most refusals trace to one of six causes. Five of them are preparation failures and are fixable before submission.
